Infants Health

One of the things that parents crave the most is good health for themselves and their children. Here we are providing five tips to parents. If applied wisely will help them to keep their infants in good health.

Breastfeed your baby exclusively until six months

Breastfeeding has only benefits. Do not hesitate to breastfeed your little one very early. Colostrum is the first milk and is rich in antibodies and nutrients. These antibodies are considered to be the real officers that ensure newborn’s protection. These work against diseases like respiratory tract infection and diarrhea before the vaccination procedure. So do not think about throwing this precious blessing.
Moreover, breastfeeding is a loving act. When you breastfeed your child, you transfer affection and love. At the same time, you develop a unique and intimate relationship that began in the womb. Also, breastfeeding alleviates your baby’s optimal growth.

Get your baby vaccinated

Vaccination is the best-known way of protecting yourself and your loved ones from different pathologies. There are a lot of important vaccines present all over the world that gives protection against diseases that used to be fatal such as diphtheria, rotavirus diarrhea, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and tetanus. These vaccines are available to all parents and are free of cost.
Make sure to visit your nearest health center to get your baby vaccinated. It is another gesture of love towards your baby by protecting him from various diseases.

Avoid self-medication

Self-medication is the practice of administering prescription or using treatment methods without a doctor’s instruction. Some parents are very often counseled by a family member or a neighbor, who invites them to give herbal teas to self-prescribe medication. Self-medication carries risks because what is designed as a medicine for the pathology of the other is not necessarily for everyone.
Moreover, when these are children, the risk becomes superior. Certain practices, such as the regular use of amoxicillin and aspirin, can be dangerous to the health of children. Amoxicillin has specific warnings whereas aspirin is not suggested in case of fever because it can cause severe complications which can even cause the child’s death.
So, in any case, make sure to visit the doctor to avoid self-medication complications.

Be wary of certain received ideas

There is often a mystic justification for the disease. The competitor or a neighbor is accused; we suspect the cat who meowed and prowled in the crook, the bat which creaked or passed on the roof, or the owl which hooted. These behaviors affect the progression of pursuing care. However, in the case of health in general and that of children in specific, the time factor is an imperative parameter. The longer you delay the treatment, the more possibility arises of severe complications.

Limit domestic accidents

Most parents think that their children are safe at home. But studies show that this cannot be the case every time. Children are exposed to multiple risks at the home as well that can have a severe effect on their health. Domestic accidents occur all of a sudden and cannot be avoided. So make sure to take the best measures to prevent them from happening.

  • Keep all of your medicines in the locker
  • Never leave your child alone in the bathroom
  • Place household things in safe places that are inaccessible to children
  • Keep children away from sharp objects
  • Keep out of reach of children hot objects and liquids
  • Avoid as much as possible the use of candles as a source of energy
